Fleeting inpsiration

This is pretty cool, i felt xanga was a little too Jr. high/high school for me so i tried out blogspot.
I just saw the movie P.S. i love you (pretty good movie) and it just got me thinking. I'm not going to get sappy or anything but a particular scene really stuck out. One part, Hilary Swank gets inspired to make shoes and she is dedicated to it, she sketches things up and even takes classes to make her own shoes. I look at that and reflect upon the many things that people (myself included) want to do with their lives. More often than not i see their ideas and goals just stay there and are put on hiatus (myself as well). Now, i ask myself; is it really that hard to do something you have a secret passion for or have we just become that lazy? Personally I've wanted to learn another foreign language or at least strengthen my Chinese but i find i never have the time. However, when i look back at my day it was filled with loitering and feelings of uselessness.
So, what really causes these moments of inspiration to just become fleeting inspirations that we hardly give a second thought to? Does something tragic need to happen for us to realize that life is short and we should pursue our goals?
I don't want to make this a new years resolution because that would be lame and cliche but i do want this to be a motivation to learn something new. I always forced myself to read theology or Christian books but maybe I'm not cut out for that. Maybe my passion isn't supposed to lead me to be the next C.S. Lewis or the next Wayne Grudem. Maybe it is to focus on other things that catch my eye. I've deiced to pick up an instrument, perhaps the guitar or learn a new language. I've been leaning towards French but i don't see myself using that too much. But there is no other language that sounds as good as French!
Please feel free to join in on these new excursions or keep me accountable, the more the merrier i say.
Thank you for reading my first post in a while, i will try to keep them more interesting the next time i decide to post.
